A double first brings great drama and essential funds for Greenwich Foodbank.

The River Gardens Café right on the Thames waterfront in Greenwich played perfect host as a small theatre for our production of two Alan Bennett’s monologue plays, starring John Lofthouse.

This was the first London production by Entertainment Events, a Hampshire-based not-for-profit company which is produces high-quality entertainment and experiences at affordable prices, with profits distributed to charitable causes.

The show featured two monologues; A Chip in the Sugar, told the story of Graham, a middle-aged man who lives with his mother. Their comfortable existence is shaken to the core when Graham’s mother meets an old flame, who proposes marriage. Bed Among the Lentils followed after an interval, where we met Susan – an alcoholic Vickers wife, who, through escaping her insensitive husband, and her debts at the local off-licence, begins in affair with an Indian grocer.

The atmosphere was palpable and thanks to the generosity of the audience, Entertainment Events are pleased to make a donation of £290 to the Greenwich Foodbank Winter Fund

Entertainment Events plans to return to The River Gardens Café in the near future, to keep up-to-date visit www.Entertainment-events.co.uk
