Monologue Magic raises £1,100
Hampshire-based event production company, Entertainment Events, brought a touch of theatrical magic to St. Peter's Church in Ropley with a captivating performance for a charitable cause.
St. Peter's Church, once devastated by a catastrophic fire in 2014, stood as a testament to resilience and community spirit as it reopened its doors in 2022 following an extensive eight-year restoration process. Entertainment Events treated the audience to a memorable evening of theatre.
The performance featured two monologues from Alan Bennett's acclaimed "Talking Heads" series, 'A Chip in the Sugar' and 'Bed Among the Lentils', delivered masterfully by the our very own John Lofthouse. The timeless pieces, originally performed in 1988, resonated with the audience, eliciting both laughter and introspection.
However, the evening was more than just entertainment. Through ticket sales, the performance raised an impressive £1,100. The proceeds will be directed towards St. Peter's Church's ongoing fundraising efforts for outdoor lighting and a new pathway project, essential components of the venue's continued restoration and enhancement.
"We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to perform at the stunning St. Peter's Church and to contribute to such a worthy cause," expressed a John for Entertainment Events. "Our mission has always been to provide high-quality entertainment while supporting charitable and community initiatives, and we are delighted to see the impact our performance has had."
The success of this event has only fueled anticipation for Entertainment Events' upcoming production at St. Peter's Church. Audiences can mark their calendars for December 2024, when the company will return with a winter rendition of Charles Dickens' timeless classic, 'A Christmas Carol'. Tickets are sure to be in high demand, so enthusiasts are encouraged to keep a close eye on announcements for ticket sales.
